You did a great job on the pizzas today. I hope you thought they were tasty!
The recipe is on the back of the bag of pizza crust mix. That's a pretty fast pizza. Thanks to everyone who helped prep the toppings! We actually made our own pizza sauce. Here's the recipe we used: PIZZA SAUCE Serves: 2-1/2 cups INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS: In a medium bowl, stir tomato sauce and tomato paste until combined and smooth. Add remaining ingredients and stir well to combine. Store in a jar or covered container in refrigerator for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months. We will finish viewing and discussing your vegetable preparation slides on Monday. We will explore a variety of herbs & spices throughout the week.
We will have labs on Thursday and Friday this week. On Thursday you will make pizza dough and prepare pizza sauce and toppings. On Friday you will assemble, bake, and eat your pizzas. Yum!! Apple Brownies
Recipe By:BakerJim "This was my Mom's recipe. Easy and quick to make. Apples and walnuts are packed into a cinnamon spiced blonde brownie. Always a hit when I bring it to parties. Very moist and great to make in the fall when apples are plentiful." Ingredients
Will be baking on Thursday, 9/21 this week. Please come prepared in appropriate lab attire on that day. The recipe is still under consideration, but it will contain a fruit or vegetable as a key ingredient.
Frittatas
This recipe should make 12 muffin size frittatas.
Spray muffin tins liberally with nonstick spray. Whisk the eggs, milk, pepper, and salt in a large bowl to blend well. Combine extra ingredients with eggs or add a small amount of extra ingredients to each cup. Fill prepared muffin cups almost to the top with the egg mixture. (Eggs should be evenly distributed.) Bake until the egg mixture puffs and is just set in the center, about 12 to 14 minutes for regular sized muffins. Using a rubber spatula, loosen the frittatas from the muffin cups and slide the frittatas onto plates. Serve immediately. This recipe can be made in a large skillet, started on the stovetop, and transferred to the oven (if skillet is oven-safe) to finish cooking. lt will take a little longer to cook through. This week's labs will be on Wednesday, 9/13 and Thursday, 9/14. We will be making individual frittatas. We'll prepare our ingredients on Wednesday and cook on Thursday.
Today's Recipe: Peach Cobbler (individual muffin size) Yield: 12 (or more) Ingredients:
* Look for similar recipes to make this in an 8x8 or 9x13 pan.
This week's lab will on Friday 9/8. We will be making individual size fruit cobblers. Yes, we still have some canned whipped cream left to top them off :)
